Legendary first Def Jam hip hop show in Holland: double bill with Run DMC and the Beastie Boys. Beasties have been seeded before, but I don't recall seeing Run DMC here. Six months later, a second Def Jam tour would hit Holland: Public Enemy, Eric B & Rakim and LL Cool J (all three of which I will seed later). All of these were broadcast by VPRO radio.

Lineage: FM (master) > Audacity (wav, normalize, track splitting) > xACT (flac) > mp3

I'm digitizing my tape collection, mostly recorded from Dutch radio in the 80s and early 90s. The original tapes will be binned and after seeding I will not keep the original flac sets, so unfortunately I will not be able to reseed them in the future.

Enjoy,

MANY THANKS TO SC FOR LETTING US TRANSFER HIS MASTERS

This show was taped by The Steve'Rasta'Cahill Concert Network (aka king0porn) w/a Sony D6 & an Aiwa cm-30A mic. from directly across the arena, halfway up at the Loge walkway (handicapped seating).
My good friend Robert F. Kelly & I made the trek from Beverly,MA. to New York City (approximately 4 hours give or take) in my late great 1977 Chevy Caprice Classic Coupe (beautiful black IMRON paint job) w/the old tried & true 305 C.I. engine.
Bob snuck my equipment in to the show behind his back in his wheelchair (ala' Mike Millard).

We smoked a lot of grass on the way & were primed for the show which included Crosby,Stills & Nash (recorded by the KBFH as well). Greg Allman & Dickie Betts & Run DMC. There may have been others but I haven't revisited this tape in almost 27 years.

We were disappointed w/the location of the handicapped section (a slap in the face if you ask me) but made the best of it. The Aiwa mic. is best down front so these tapes are are bit distant & boomy.

This was before I began MC'ing my S'R'C concert network I.D.'s some of you 'know & love"

I'd like to dedicate this show to my fine friend Robert F. Kelly Born: 03JAN42 Died: 27SEP89, who tragically got in a solo car accident while home on leave from the Army based in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was driving in Magnolia,MA. in his 1960's model Chevy Corvair (notorious for bad cornering) & lost control during a rainstorm leaving him a quadriplegic for the rest of his life.

Thank you for being my friend Bob & R.I.P. my brother........................

AND PLEASE DONT ALTER THIS RECORDING IN ANY WAY.THANK YOU
AND AS ALWAYS ENJOY.CHEERS KRW_CO

Second Def Jam tour that year in Amsterdam: after Run DMC and Beastie Boys in May, this time it was LL Cool J, Public Enemy and Eric B & Rakim.

This is compiled from two separate tapes: tracks 01-02 were clearly labeled 1987-11-05, tracks 03-06 were not, but I'm certain they are from the same show (they mention Holland several times).

Motorhead - Melbourne, Australia 13.08.1984 (special gig)

MOTORHEAD
NUNAWADING SKATING RANCH, MELBOURNE
1984-08-13

I am not sure how rare this show is but I thought I would just share it anyway just in case.
I got it in a trade many years ago.

Motorhead played about 26 Australian gigs on their 1984 Aussie tour.
This was a small gig played to about 100 people at a roller skating rink.
I think it might have been a secret gig.
Lemmy's first words are 'Hello skaters'.
The band supposedly used a small room used for kids'parties as a dressing room.
There were apparently people skating during the gig.

The quality is quite good considering the age. I can't work out all the song titles as the lyrics aren't always clear.

Tracklist:

1. Iron Fist
2. Stay Clean
3. Heart of stone
4. The Hammer
5. Metropolis

Comments: Show performed 24 years ago tonight. With the band celebrating its 25th anniversary of the release of its first album "Vivid" thought it would fun to up this anniversary show. Band pulls out a cool version of Zep's "The Ocean" on this night, preceded my "Mannish Boy" by Chicago's own Muddy Waters and followed by Bad Brains "Salin' On." The Chicago gig came just as the band learned "Vivid" had gone platinum. Also tonight 4/7/13 the band played "Cult of Personality" as part of Wrestlemania 29, so nice to see some exposure for the band.

March 16, 1984

I have no lineage info for this tape. I bought it at a record shop that an old hippie named Ted runs out of his house in The Falls, Great guy, if a little odd. He likely bought a copy of the tape from the taper and my copy was a copy of his. That makes the master 3rd generation, but part of it got dubbed to another tape when the original started to decay badly. I've never seen this tape anywhere else but from him, so I thought I'd share it, even if it's not the greatest. I did what I could to clean it up.

A "supergroup" of sorts when they first came out, with plenty of exposure on the radio and MTV back in the day.
With the amount of talent they had they should have been HUGE!
Internal fighting and record company pressures eventually lead to their demise.
This is their headlining set on tour in the U.K. for their 2nd release VOODOO HIGHWAY.

Ace Frehley w. Gene & Paul - NYC, NY 26.06.1988

ACE FREHLEY
'Live With Gene & Paul'
New York City, New York, USA
June 26th 1988

This is not something with good quality, but this was a real rare show from Ace Frehley's solo career. This concert took place at the Limelight of New York, NY on June 26th 1988, during the 'Second Sighting' Tour. A partial and overdubbed audio from this concert was also broadcasted on FM. But here's an audience recording of the entire show. What makes this concert unique and special is because Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons joined on stage with Ace to perform 'Deuce'.
And since that reunion wasn´t part of the radio broadcast, this is the only version available.
