Face it, Joe Elliott's vocals are but a shell of what they once were. That said, they do a great job of making up for it with a lot of effects and a huge stage presence. I've now seen Def Leppard three times in the past 12 months and although they've fallen into a bit of a routine as far as the set list is concerned, they never fail to entertain.

The Cadott, WI RockFest show was a "make up" gig. Def Leppard was supposed to play RockFest a year ago on the Def Leppard/Heart tour, but the death of Joe Elliott's father led to a cancellation. The band promised to be back and sure enough, they were one of the first to announce their spot on the 2012 RockFest line-up.

As for the recording, I've been tweaking, deleting, and restarting this one for a couple of weeks. In the raw audio there's an annoying bass-hum below 100 Hz. Also, the left channel volume goes up-and-down/in-and-out with no apparent regularity (this may be because the stage-left speaker stack was just to my right-front so the right mic may have had a more consistent source with the left mic pointed more across the front of the stage). Anyhow, I've worked (and worked, and worked...) on both these issues and have come up with what I think is a darn good product. Both of the problem issues have been minimized, but not totally eliminated.
